Commitment to cleaner, greener Borough

Sefton Council recently reaffirmed its commitment to a cleaner, greener Borough with a Day of Action for 2025/26, targeting fly-tipping hotspots in Bootle.

Sefton Council worked alongside local partners to clean up the area around Webster, Tumilty, and Summers Avenue, just off Southport Road.

Days of action

It follows similar successful Days of Action organised by One Vision Housing in partnership with Sefton Council last year.

One Vision Housing recently launched their new Alleway Strategic Plan. Backed by Sefton Council, the plan aims to combat fly-tipping and improve the quality of life for those throughout the community.

Illegal, selfish and anti-social

Cllr Peter Harvey, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Cleansing and Street Scene said: “As well as being illegal, selfish, and anti-social, fly-tipping is something that, quite understandably, annoys Sefton residents to see.

“As councillors, it annoys us too, which is why we are determined to address the issue head-on.

“Days of Action are a key part of that commitment. Working with local partners allows us to deliver a comprehensive approach that cleans up neighbourhoods and deters future offences.

“The Council will continue to prosecute where traceable evidence is found and during the Days of Action our Environmental Enforcement Team were on hand to speak with residents and share information about how we are doing that.”

Residents welcomed the improvements, with many commenting on the immediate visual impact and expressing support for future activity. This effort marks the beginning of a wider fly-tipping clearance schedule planned for the area in the months ahead.

Commited to taking action

Ian Mitchell, Managing Director for Housing at One Vision Housing said:
“Fly-tipping negatively impacts our customers and communities, and we are committed to taking action in collaboration with Sefton Council. Our strong partnerships are vital in keeping our communities clean and safe.

“It was great to be part of a collaborative clean up in Bootle, the first of many across Sefton.”
