Plans for future of the Conservatory at Southport’s Hesketh park to be unveiled at public event

Green Sefton are inviting people interested in the future of Southport’s Hesketh Park to an information session to find out more about the plans to restore its historic conservatory.
Architect
Taking place between 10am and 1pm on Wednesday 4th March, at Hesketh Park Conservatory, the event will include a talk on the plans by the architect.
The design and technical approach to the conservatory’s restoration have been developed to ensure the work is fully in keeping with the heritage status of the building. Wednesday’s event will be a chance for people to ask questions and provide feedback.
Generous bequest
Restoring the conservatory is part of a programme of work that has been made possible by the generous bequest of £862,000 to Hesketh Park by its long-term neighbours and supporters, Louis and Anita Marks.
As part of that programme the park’s fountain has now been completely restored to its ornate former glory and the bed replanted at its base.
Best possible future
Cllr Mhairi Doyle, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said: “Thanks to Louis and Anita Marks generosity, we are carrying out their wish to ensure its best possible future.
“The fountain and its surroundings are looking glorious and the plans for the conservatory look exciting.
“I recommend anyone with an interest in Hesketh Park and its heritage go along on Wednesday and find out more about the proposals.”
Operator tender
Sefton Council will be launching a tender soon to find a future operator of the completed Conservatory.
Cllr Doyle added: “Once the Conservatory is restored, we want to see it put to the best use for local people and visitors once again, so anyone who might interested in managing and running it in the future the facility is welcome to come along to Wednesday’s session and speak to us or register their interest by contacting us at GreenSefton@sefton.co.uk."
