Phase 1 of Maritime Corridor was completed in February 2026. Phase 2 is anticipated to start later in 2026.
Changes
Phase 1 saw improvements to Dunnings Bridge Road and Netherton Way.
The scheme improved junctions and introduced improved walking and cycling paths and crossings. This makes it easier for vehicles, cyclists and those walking to move around the area.
Social Value
Throughout the scheme, Sefton Council have worked with contractors Balfour Beatty to generate social value and create lasting impact after the construction has finished.
A new full-time position has been created, in addition to engaging with 253 students in workshops, career talks and curriculum support as well as providing 67 weeks of apprenticeships.
